Description Terms
ALT: Advanced Leadership Training.
Age Division Leader: Captain, Chief Ranger, or Tree Climber Coordinator
Area Committee: Representatives from each unit meet to plan local area events.
BLT: Basic Leadership Training.
BMC: Brigade Men's Conference.
CSB: Christian Service Brigade.
Noncom: (NON COMmissioned Officer) Teen leaders
Shares: Money donated by the boys during the weekly program.

Committee Job Descriptions
General Leadership Qualifications
must be a born-again Christian man. (Refer to Building Men p. 7-8)
must agree with and submit to their local church's & CSB Statement of Faith.
must have the ability to work with others in a team setting.
must be able to receive and give direction.
must have a burden for the salvation and growth of the boys they work with in CSB.
must hold the CSB Basic Leadership Certification. New Leaders must take this course at the beginning of their first year of service. A BLT can be set up by contacting the Regional Director. Brigademen must complete the BLT before the start of their second year of service, if their duties require regular attendance at the weekly meeting or outings. Noncoms are exempt, although the Sergeant and older noncoms should be encouraged to participate in adult leadership training.
must be 18 to become a leader, and at least 21 to be an Age Division Leader or Chairman. Age restrictions do not apply to noncom positions.

The Brigade Chairman
Qualifications:
must meet the above General Leadership Qualifications.
must be a dedicated and disciplined servant of the Lord.
must be aquatinted with and support the total program of the Church.
must be a leader with good organizational abilities and inter-personal relationships.
must be well respected inside and outside the unit
must be a member or adherent of his local church and attends regularly.
Responsible to:
the pastor and/or specific staff member, or the local church board.
Responsible for:
the total CSB ministry and programs
each and every CSB age division which the church runs.
Duties:
set goals and measurable objectives related to the CSB statement of purpose, basic principles and program elements.
establish, implement, and maintain high standards in keeping with the Word, our church's policies and CSB philosophy.
establish a year-round program for all divisions for which our church is registered.
recruit leaders and arrange for their Basic and Advanced Leadership Training courses.
coordinate the CSB activities with the total program of our church.
provide equipment, facilities and program supplies.
finance the program, including developing and maintaining a budget
provide for the registration of men with CSB by the last week in September
arrange and carry out a registration night for boys in all age divisions
promote and publicize the unit to the church, the home and the community.
communicate reports and information to CSB headquarters.
evaluate the program and the performance of individuals within all age divisions.
arrange and conduct regular meetings of the committee.
attend weekly meetings of each age division to encourage leaders, evaluate the program, and keep in touch with the total CSB program.
attend planning meetings of each division to provide input and to keep all activities coordinated.
attend church regularly to set an example for men and boys and to fellowship with them.
delegate responsibilities to other members of the committee.
perform such duties as may be required to ascertain that the CSB ministry is well coordinated with the entire church program.
dispense information from Headquarters, and the CSB Regional Director to concerned committee members without delay.
serve on the Area Committee or designate a worthy delegate to take his place.
promote area events and camps in the local unit.
perform other duties which from time to time may be required for the effective functioning of the entire CSB ministry in the local church.

The Secretary/Treasurer
Qualifications:
must meet the above General Leadership Qualifications.
must be a dedicated and disciplined servant of the Lord.
must support the total program of the Church.
must be a leader with good organizational abilities.
Responsible to: The Brigade Chairman
Responsible for:
financial records of the unit.
recording and distribution of reports to committee members.
Duties:
record minutes of the Brigade Committee.
receive all income (including shares).
pay all bills as approved by the Chairman.
prepare good, careful and proper financial statements on a quarterly basis.

The Brigademen Coordinator
Qualifications:

Duties:
work with the Brigade Chairman and age division leaders to determine the need for and usage of Brigademen during the weekly meetings and special events.
recruit, schedule and make sure Brigademen complete designated assignments.
evaluate the performance of individual Brigademen.
attend Brigade Committee meetings and give a report of Brigademen activities.

coordinate the work of Lieutenants and Brigademen in the Battalion.
be responsible to keep the program interesting, varied and moving.
conduct planning meetings with Lieutenants, Noncoms, and Brigademen.
coordinate all Battalion activities with the Brigade Chairman and meet with the Brigade Committee as required.
assist leaders in their personal development of leadership potential.
assist the Brigade committee with tasks they may have from time to time.
participate in opportunities for personal development such as ALT's and BMC's to act as an example for adult and teen leaders.

The Lieutenant

Responsible for:. Assisting in the Battalion Program.

Responsible for:. Assisting the Captain in the running of the regular weekly meeting.
Duties:
attend weekly meetings regularly. Notify the Captain as far ahead of an absence as possible.
take charge of all pre-meeting activities, call up formations, and direct traffic during the weekly meetings.
act as a conduit for communication from the leaders to the boys and vice versa.
assist the squads and Captain to keep the weekly meeting running as smoothly as possible.
attend such meetings as called by the Captain.
carry out other duties the Captain or Lieutenants may from time to time assign.
assist the Captain with record keeping.
assist Corporals to carry out their duties, and maintain good order.
participate in the Battalion special activities and outings.
keep progressing in personal achievement as an example to the Battalion.

The Corporal
Qualifications:

Duties:
attend weekly meetings regularly. Notify the Sergeant as far ahead of an absence as possible. Also inform his Lance Corporal to take over in his absence.
take complete responsibility for the leadership of a squad within the Battalion.
take a personal interest in the boys in his squad, and build friendships with them. Contact boys who are absent for two weeks in a row.
spark spiritual growth in his squad through prayer, Bible study, achievement progress, and service projects.
keep careful records of squad attendance and achievement progress.
line up his squad in Formations and see they arrive for squad meetings.
train his Lance Corporal to carry out the Corporal's duties. Give opportunities for him to do so.
attend such meetings as called by the Captain.
participate in the Battalion special activities and outings.
keep progressing in personal achievement as an example to his squad.
