How do we view “transitions” in our lives?
TRANSITIONS
Children have the First Place - Abraham Lincoln
Imagine seeing Lincoln as his law partner William Herndon described: “Lincoln would come down to our office…with one or two of his little children, hauling them in the same little wagon, and in our office, then and there, write declarations, pleas, and other legal papers.”
The War against Young Men
Do you see the war going on around you? Our young men and boys are being attacked on many fronts these days. For many years in public schools there is has been and continues to be a dominant pull toward liberal feminism promoting things such as;
Gender differences are determined only by socialization.
Boys are basically rowdy and lean towards destructive behavior.
Have a Long-term View
“Twitters”, “Sound bites” and “video clips” are phrases that describe the approach to life, even the world view, of many of us today. With life moving ever faster, the “bites” and “clips” seemingly help us survive or at least stay somewhat connected to a hectic, frenetic world. Fewer and fewer people are setting any goals, let alone holding onto anything akin to life-long dreams.
RELATIONSHIPS
The idea of investing in and building significant relationships is difficult for many men, if not almost a foreign concept. Why is this?
Maybe it is because we spend the majority of our time working towards and believing that our most significant contributions relate to being warriors/protectors and providers.
