What are the Outpost Trails?

Outpost Trails Cover

(Excerpt from OP Trails Introduction) "Welcome to Outpost Trails!

This book has been designed for those boys who have excelled in the Builder and Sentinel Trails books and require a more challenging "trail" to follow in Stockade. Congratulations! You have proven yourself to be a Master Builder and an Able Sentinel, a young man who excels in his own ability, but knows it is through Christ's ability that all things are done. We hope that the following exercises will challenge you, excite you, and make you grow and develop in Christ's love and teachings."

The Outposts were created in order to challenge boys who had mastered their Builder and Sentinel books before finishing their four years in Stockade. The exercises are designed to be more challenging, thereby giving the Outpost boy a more rewarding feeling of accomplishment once they are completed. Each Outpost is designed to last at least one month. This is to ensure that quality work is being done, not simply breezed over.

Who Designed the Outposts?

Created by CSB Staff and other leaders a number of years ago, outposts have existed in several formats. This version of Outpost Trails was designed and published by the leaders of Unit 2436, Deer Park Alliance Church, in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada.

What's new and different in this version?

Currently there are four Outposts, with plans for an additional four in the near future. The book is designed around the Builder and Sentinel books, therefore the basic "feel" of the book should be familiar. It features the same "icons" and sections as the current trails books. This maintains more continuity with the rest of the stockade program than the original Outposts.

What's in the new Outposts?

Out Post 1: God's Incredible Creation

In Out Post 1, the Outpost boy will examine God's Creation, its beauty and its diversity. Using John 1:1-10, he will explore God's creation and his own role within it. Out Post 3: The Road to Christ

In Out Post 3, the Out Poster will travel "The Roman Road" of faith to examine where he is in his faith, and where he is going. He will challenge his knowledge of his own community, and also explore the community of Christ. You will step back in time to travel a real Roman road and marvel at its masterpiece of engineering, and discover several scriptural events that occurred on these Roman roads.

Out Post 4: Fruit of the Spirit

In Out Post 4, the Outpost boy will use Galatians 5:22, 23 as his main course to explore the many ways to describe our faith in Christ. He will get hungry while he exams the many varied fruits that God has created for us to use (found both in a grocery store and the wild).
